Front Office staff
Cheryl (left)
Cheryl is our cosmetic dentistry office’s interdepartmental coordinator and a lifelong Virginia peninsula resident. She has extensive office and chairside dental experience and enjoys both immensely. Cheryl was trained in dental assisting at Old Dominion University. She has two grown children, Stacy and Jeremy, with her husband Mark and they are members of Coastal Community Church. She is an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge #25 and also enjoys volunteering for Relay for Life.
Pam (center, back)
Pam is the financial administrator for our cosmetic dentistry office, she joined our office in January 2004. She has served in the dental field for over 20 years as an administrative and clinical coordinator. Pam has three grown sons, Jeremy, Jason and Eric and three grandchildren. In her spare time Pam enjoys attending Bible study, listening to Blue Grass music and taking her dog, Buddy, for walks.
Mary Lou (center, front)
Mary Lou, our office’s treatment coordinator, got her start in the field of dentistry as one of Dr. William T. Griffin’s patients in dental school. Her encouraging spirit and love of all people makes her perfectly suited for her role in our cosmetic dentistry practice. Mary Lou and her husband Jim, the retired pastor of Coventry Church, have been blessed with four children – Alisa, Randy, Brad and Blair – and ten grandchildren. When not at the office assisting patients, Mary Lou enjoys church activities, working in the yard, counted cross-stitch and cooking.
Linda (right)
Linda is the special projects coordinator at our cosmetic dentistry practice in Newport News, Virginia and also works in the front office part-time. One of her primary responsibilities is to oversee the publication of our dental newsletter. She is a graduate of James Madison University. Linda and Dr. Griffin have been blessed with two wonderful children, Will and Katie.
Treatment Assistants
Harriette (left)
Harriette has been with our cosmetic dentistry office since 1995 and has been a dental treatment assistant since 1972. She has two grown daughters, Anna Elizabeth and Ashley, with her husband Fred. Her family have been peninsula residents since 1993 and previously lived in Winchester, Virginia for 18 years. When Harriette is outside the office, she enjoys sewing and gardening.
Brenda (center)
Brenda has served as a treatment assistant at our Newport News office since 1987. Before joining our team, she worked at Riverside Hospital as a nurse. Brenda and her husband Dalton have been married since 1962. They have two wonderful (but not perfect) children, Chris and Mary and three very special grandchildren. When not at the office, Brenda’s hobbies include sewing, cross stitch, crocheting, gardening and being a grandma.
Lydia (right)
Lydia joined our practice in October 2004, as a treatment assistant, when her family relocated from Las Vegas. She has three children - Andre, Halle, and Austin – with her husband Fred who is in the USAF. Lydia is an active member of Grafton Baptist Church where she serves on the Praise Team and as a leader with the youth group.
Hygiene Department
Carolyn (left)
A lifelong Peninsula resident, Carolyn has served as a dental hygienist since 1995. In her former career as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Carolyn developed a particular tenderness and compassion toward individuals with disabilities, and through this interaction she became interested in a career in dental hygiene. She loves the prevention and wellness aspect of dental hygiene and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people she cares for. Carolyn and her husband Steve have been married since 1990 and they have a son named Eric. They enjoy a variety of leisure activities from museum hopping to sports and other outdoor activities. Carolyn and her family are members of St. Joseph Church, where Carolyn has found great joy in sharing God's word with first grade religious education students.
Beth (center)
Beth serves in our cosmetic dentistry practice’s hygiene department and sees patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She enjoys helping patients achieve improved dental health through proper dental hygiene. She and her husband John and been married more than 20 years. They have been graciously blessed with six children. When not chauffeuring her kids or assisting patients with hygiene concerns, she enjoys working with the children’s choir at church, teaching Sunday school and playing the piano.
